This is one of a few new features that we will be rolling out on Hoya Paranoia over the next few days as we transition to a new format. In the future, the Men’s and Women’s basketball Big East Power Rankings will run on Tuesdays.
1. No. 2 Syracuse (22-1, 9-1 Big East) — As much as it pains me to say it, Jim Boeheim’s team is in its familiar place at the front of the Big East. The Orange have only one blemish, a loss at Notre Dame and have a favorable schedule from here out. Feb. 8, 7 p.m.: vs. Georgetown.
2. No. 14 Georgetown (17-4, 7-3) — The Beach Boys would think I’m “being true to my school,” but this is, after all, Hoya Paranoia. Georgetown and Marquette are the only teams in contention for this spot but the Hoyas furious comeback to beat back the Golden Eagles gives them the edge. Next game: Feb. 4, 11 a.m. vs. South Florida.
3. No. 15 Marquette (19-4, 8-2) — Seniors Darius Johnson-Odom and forward Jae Crowder lead the very talented Golden Eagles. While they’ve struggled on the road against the two teams above them on this list, they’ve also reeled off six straight wins. Jan. 4: Georgetown 73, Marquette 70. Mar. 3: vs. Georgetown, 2 p.m.
4. Notre Dame (14-8, 6-3) — The Fighting Irish have dropped several road games against weaker teams but they also upended Syracuse when the Orange came to South Bend. Junior forward Jack Cooley and senior forward Tim Abromaitis are dangerous, but the rest of their pieces haven’t fallen in place. Feb. 27, 7 p.m.: at Georgetown.

This is one of a few new features that we will be rolling out on Hoya Paranoia over the next few days as we transition to a new format. In the future, the Men’s and Women’s basketball Big East Power Rankings will run on Tuesdays.
1. No. 2 Notre Dame (22-1, 9-0 Big East) – The Irish are perfect in the Big East (they have only lost to top-ranked Baylor) and UConn appears to be their only roadblock on their path to league perfection. Jan. 10: Notre Dame 80, Georgetown 60.
2. No. 3 Connecticut (20-2, 8-1) – Fresh off a win over No. 5 Duke, the Huskies could seize the top spot in the rankings by winning their much-anticipated rematch with Notre Dame on Feb. 27. Feb. 11, 4 p.m.: Georgetown at UConn.
3. No. 17 Georgetown (17-5, 6-3) – The Hoyas have won two straight, which included a dominant showing in an upset win over then-No. 11 Rutgers. On top of that, the rest of their schedule is fairly soft. Next Game: 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at Cincinnati.
4. No. 14 Louisville (17-5, 6-3) – The Cardinals were looking strong before suffering a heavy defeat at the hands of DePaul. Head Coach Jeff Walz’s team will have to get back on track with West Virginia and UConn looming. Jan. 22: Louisville 64, Georgetown 61.

Harsh of the UConn sports info people to call their team's work ethic out like that.
Is it fair of us to post this after Georgetown beats UConn? No. Is it funny? We certainly think so.
Mike Palmer and I may have been banished to the rafters of the Verizon Center, but we’re still committed to providing you with the fun and occasional bits of information that is our liveblog.
