Being home in Louisville away from all the Hoya Paranoia, I am constantly asked: how is Georgetown’s Basketball team going to look this year? Who are you going to root for when Louisville plays at Georgetown? Is it weird going to a rival school?…So I am going to answer on this blog the first question, because I have discussed the others in previous posts. I have said all along that Georgetown has the best starting five players in the Big East, and they are proving me right!
There is not a player in the starting lineup who I would not want out on the floor in the last five minutes of a crucial game. Chris Wright is one of the quickest guards in the country and has been tremendous down the stretch, especially vs. UConn. He used to be very turnover prone, but has cut down on making bad decisions. Jessie Sapp is an incredible leader on the court and is always a threat to knock down a bigtime three. Austin Freeman was known as a spot up shooter, but he has become a lot more aggressive and makes strong moves to the rim, along with going after the offensive and defensive glass. DaJuan Summers has developed his game into a potential lottery pick, as he is not only a terrific shooter, but is starting to use his athleticism to his advantage. Last, but certainly not least is Greg Monroe. At first I wasn’t a believer that Monroe would step in and make an immediate impact, but I was wrong. Monroe has become not only a good low post player, but a great passer and defender. These Hoyas are no longer under the radar, especially with their dominating victory over the Huskies.
According to my dad, “JTIII is what the modern day coach should be, pro or college. A great teacher, communicator, humble, and cool under pressure.” I totally agree. Let the Hoya Paranoia Begin!
