ROSEMONT, ILL. — Georgetown started off its Midwest road trip with a solid 67-50 win against DePaul. The Hoyas shot 57.1% from the field and kept DePaul’s offense off-balance for most of the day.

  1. The Hoyas had a balanced attack, with four starters reaching double digits. Greg Monroe, Jason Clark, Austin Freeman and Chris Wright combined for 58 points on 21-of-36 shooting. Georgetown also had 18 assists on the day.
  2. Georgetown played solid defense to disrupt DePaul’s offensive rhythm. The Hoyas held Will Walker, to 3-of-14 shooting and nine points, well below his 16.1 ppg average. Besides Mac Koshwal, who finished with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting, the Blue Demons were kept in check by a good defensive effort.
  3. Georgetown’s bench still struggled to contribute. Hollis Thompson was the only player off the bench to score, adding two baskets. He was also the only substitute to play for more than 9 minutes. Neither Jerrelle Benimon and Henry Sims, who each saw nine minutes, attempted a field goal, though each had an assist and grabbed a rebound, and Sims missed two free throws.

The Hoyas will continue their stay in the Midwest with a matchup on Wednesday evening against Marquette.

Yeah we’re doing good, I guess when the time is right Vee will play more, he’s a threat…we have to also realize we have role players that rebound, block shots and defend, just because they don’t score doesn’t mean they are not doing the small things that add up to the picture…the scoring will come, the Hoyas are doing fine…I know it’s a concern for some, but I understand…Follow Glidehoyas on Twitter…WE ARE GEORGETOWN!
