The Washington Times’ Patrick Stevens slotted the Hoyas 39th in his preseason rankings, about 15-20 spots lower than most other rankings.

39. Georgetown (16-15): From Final Four to NCAA second round to NIT, Hoyas must reverse recent course.

That puts the Hoyas at seventh in the Big East, behind Villanova (5), West Virginia (6), UConn (12), Louisville (14), Pittsburgh (32) and Syracuse (34). Meanwhile, Stevens lists Maryland at No. 23, which should stir up those Hoya paranoia claims that the media likes the Terps more than the Hoyas.

Stevens and Barker Davis do give the Hoyas some love in their preseason All-American teams, placing center Greg Monroe on the fourth team.
